I believe that it was due to several factors. 1. Stock radiator 2. Cooling fans 3. Covered engine The stock radiator is good, but the fans need the motion of air running across it (while the car is in motion) to benefit from maximum cooling. As the car heated up the inverter was drawing a bunch of current which caused the fan fix to melt and the fans to cut eventually off. > -----Original Message----- > From: Cohee, Michael [mailto:mcohee@xxxxxxxxxx] > Sent: Monday, June 16, 2003 2:13 PM > To: DMCForum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: RE: [DMCForum] I'm back with another kooky question! > > Travis, > Its funny (not really) that you mentioned your car overheated while > idleing and the rear covered....last year when i fixed my bad fuel leak i > was so happy that i just let the car idle in the garage while i clenaed up > my tools. next thing i saw as coolant shooting out from behind the > overflow bottle...I ran around and turne dth car off. the needle was about > 220 so i don't think any harm came of it.
