I bought two of these (JC Whitney), and neither one will fit well enough to do the tie-rod ends on a DeLorean. Can you e-mail a photo of what you have? whalt(at)att.net Beating the topic into the ground: I tried a pickle fork to remove tie-rod ends and chickened out because it looked like it might damage the ball socket. For now I'm happy with the hammer approach. What I actually used was a 10 pound sledge under the arm held on with my knee while I smacked the top with a hammer. I would never try it without a weight like this backing it up. I figured this one out from a physics class. We hung a weight from a string and then tied more string onto the bottom of the weight. If you jerked the bottom string then it would always break. But if you pulled the string slowly then the top string would always break. Ergo, an extra 10 pounds under the steering arm gives it enough inertia to prevent damage. (Don't worry Mike, I'm bringing the pickle fork. I don't think Southwest Airlines would be happy if I brought my 10lb sledge as carry-on luggage.) As a side note, I have had a hard time finding a suitable spring compressor for removing/replacing front springs on a DeLorean. Nothing I could buy or rent would fit well. I posted several times on the internet asking what people use, but no one could give me a manufacture or part number. The latest contraption I bought is a Snap-On model WA 92. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks very promising. Walt ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor ---------------------~--> Make Money Online Auctions!
