I think it has more to do with all the extra material they use. You could
build two or three smaller higher output engines with the metal in a 454.
And I do have a balanced and ported 454 in my boat, when it runs it is good
for 450-475hp.
And Bill when you come down if you get a little homesick I cleared a spot in
the yard next to the 351 Windsor for you to set up a tent. But I must warn
you it still has all the pollution control crap and electronic
distributor...
