You can buy a pre-assembled Bio-D reactor for under $3k that you just 
add the raw materials to and fill up your car or truck.  This size 
reactor will keep most cars fueled up with out any problems or need for 
a storage tank.  They are possible to build for a few hundred dollars if 
you have the time to experiment.

My first batch was done in a lab probably using $50k worth of 
equipment.  The second batch was done in the kitchen for just a few $ 
worth of supplies.
