Have you considered a Carter Ball & Ball single-throated two barrel?  I
have one on my 1958 Plymouth 318, and there is one on Juley's '77
Gremlin 258 as well.  It's certainly enough carb for a 174 DeLorean
motor.  I have a dozen of them here if you want to try one out.
