OK, I'm going to say this again, and will try to read the replies but
no promises because this new forum format sucks hard core.
I can setup a PHPBB forum AND allow users to opt-in to receiving email
on all topics!! YES, you can have your cake and eat it too.
This is my preference and there are numerous benefits:
1. People who are used to doing things by email can still do them.
There is one catch, you can not REPLY via email. You have to get on
the html interface to reply. But you can read all you want, and each
message has a handy link that will take you right to the web interface
to post a reply.
2. Different forums can be setup. We can have a "delorean talk only"
forum and we can have a "religion" forum and even a "bitchfest" forum
that Mark can moderate. You only subscribe to the forums you want to
track.
3. PEOPLE CAN ACTUALLY READ THE &*^%^ING THING.
4. NO ADS.
I'll even host the damn thing at zero cost to everyone involved. All I
need is a "Yes" from this forum's owners. I can set it up within a
week and we can be done with this Yahoo BS.
Please? Pretty please?
Oh, and, by the way: GOOGLE GROUPS SUCK. The interface is worse than
this. If this group moves there I may be done as well.
