[DMCForum] Door struts

I have been having this disscusion on the other board....

We are talking about door lift struts.
My original DMCH struts would open the door softly and come to a feather 
soft stop.
When it got cold out they were not strong enough to lift the door all the 
way.

So I bought a set of John Hervey's which were much more powerfull,
so much so that they fling the door open and shake the whole car, and then 
bounce
back and forth.
I don't think that this is normal, and I think they should have a dampener 
to slow
them down.

Any thoughts?
Who uses who's struts and what do you think of them?
Also, mention the weather conditions they are used in.
