RE: [DMCForum] Turbo Bosch X-Jet?

My thoughts as well... but I'm trying the K.I.S.S. principle.  I see that
the 930's are capable of 450 HP with the CIS, so I suppose that route is
possible if not efficient.

Another issue I was thinking of with the CIS though... if I reground that
cam to a more aggressive profile, it would start to have some rather large
pulsations/fluctuations in vacuum at idle.  Even with the turbos
helping/buffering airflow, I think we might start running into problems with
the metering plate 'shuddering' wildly at idle.

My J&S has the ability to listen to detonations via a knock sensor, and
retard either individual or all cylinders 3 degrees at a time until the
knock disappears. (I have it set to individual cylinders right now). I
believe there may also be a rev limiter in the device if I recall correctly.
I went that (expensive) route in the beginning because I didn't want to just
recurve the dist. only for the turbos, thus loosing power when not under
boost.  I think we're good as far as the spark goes, IF that dist. will fit
in the '87 Volvo block.  Might be some machining involved, eh?

If I do go the CIS route, I have another issue to contend with.  The formula
calls for Monaco/Premiere heads, which do not have the holes for the CIS
injectors.  I wonder if they can be drilled out to accept an injector
sleeve?

the engine will breathe better without the meter flap.
Do it right, go with EFI.  Many of the systems even
have electronic boost control built in..  The better
ones that do ignition control have knock sensors and
safeguards to make sure you dont blow up the engine.

What does Dnagarts think?
