Bill,
As I mentioned before, this is a very simple system and I have no doubt you
can understand how it works by nothing more than looking at it.
This should be what your engine looks like, right?

If the throttle is in the way of removing the passenger side valve cover,
you should be able to remove the throttle assembly fairly easily.
If you need to get the whole plenum out of the way, doing so will give you
this much room.

It really is a very simple system, like the GM TPI is as well.

I am in DC to take final possession of a new to me truck that has
apparently never been subjected to the rigors of routine maintenance
(the vehicle I was slam shifting around New Jersey last month).
Decided to start with ignition (cap/rotor/wires/plugs). Ford Motor
Company has absolutely ruined the 302 with EFI. What should have taken
less than a half hour consumed most of my afternoon. The distributor
is still right up front, where it always has been, but now has a
gigantic air plenum covering it up. Covers the water temp sender too.
And the PCV valve. Ever thorough, Ford decided to wrap the plenum over
the passenger valve cover as well, which in my case is leaking and
needs a new gasket. It's Douvrin all over again...
Which way to the nearest cast iron manifold?
