Bill I don't understand why you are having so many problems with that
engine other than in your mind all the EFI must be swapped back to
carb. I have that exact same 302 in an E-150 full size van with close
to 350k miles on it. The biggest problem we had with the EFI system was
the fuel pump going out around 100k miles. I'm still running the
original factory injectors which at this point are probably leaking a
bit. The van has much much less access than your truck and I can do a
plug and wire change in maybe an hr.
One problem with the early EFI 302 intake was a thin area in a water
passage casting. The thin wall is on the outside and will let the water
pump drain the engine quickly.
