Well I hate to break it to you Martin but that is a nasty rumor that the
vendors spread around.  I have had mine apart many times with out any
problems.  It is a thin SS sheet, but it is more than a few microns maybe
the same as a soda can. Which is what 30-40 thou?

The hardest part of the whole process is finding high quality o-ring;s that
fit.  I'm not the only "Non-pro" to do this, my parts supplier used to
rebuild them all the time

If you ever get over to FL I'll show you how I do it.
