That's how Volvo did it in the 760 over here (B28E). We have a DeLorean 
in at the moment with the same setup - it has lots of Volvo bits because 
it had an engine fire and the owner reconstructed the top end of the 
engine with bits from a scrap Volvo engine. Perhaps the Volvos over your 
side with the same engine also had it.
