Re: [DMCForum] Re: fuel stank, was: Evil Vin

But what would that have to do with air coming in through the vents? I
filled up the tank again, and now it doesn't smell anymore. hmm

FYI, the D and the Ricer part both had carbon cannisters, but my car
doesn't have either system. heh heh. First, I plugged the tank vent
hose with a bolt, which "solved" that problem. In working with and
getting the engine to work right, the gas got hot enough and caused
enough pressure in the tank to pop off the fuel boot. My "solution" to
that problem was to pull the plug on the tank vent. So, short story
long, the vent IS to atmosphere. Still so, I can't see how that would
really make it into the interior. Or why the problem would not be
consistent. I imagine I'm losing gas (and mileage) out of that tube.
I've considered making a replacement with either a pressure activated
vent or a very small hose to vent pressure but not much fumes.

Granted, these are both horrible solutions, and finding a way to keep the
fuel boot on is the best solution. If anyone has any ideas there, send
them along.

Jim
