I agree with Scott about checking the thermostat. When they go bad they stick closed causing the car to overheat. I have never heard of one sticking open or opening too soon, but I suppose that is possible. Maybe your thermostat is missing altogether. Some people think that the cooler the engine runs the better so they leave the thermostat out. But the engine needs to get hot enough to evaporate the accumulated moisture out of the crank case.
