I'm afraid I have to agree; I don't care as to me or any other Dutchman the car is an import, no matter whether the car is American, Irish or British. > "Foreign" cars are manufactured/assembled in the > USA and "domestic" cars now have 50% (or more) of > their parts made in "foreign" countries. This is an interesting point; suppose I buy a Mitsubishi Charisma or a Volvo V40, those cars are both built over here in the Netherlands (on the same assembly line, mixed as they were ordered), yet the marquees are Japaneese and Swedish... To me these cars are NOT Dutch, and I consider my DeLorean to be an American car... But when it suits ME it's an English one; I was a guest at an event for Enlglish cars and was accepted as English without any hassle... And if we had something like St. Patricks Day in The Netherlands; on THAT day my car would be Irish... > Perhaps I'm missing something here. > Seriously, why is this of any importance? The only thing I can think of is insurance, or more precisely the availability of parts after an accident or other damage... Ah well, I'm going to enjoy my car now, not ponder about its' origin...
