[doc] Re: Replacing rear speakers

Hi Dan,

I used Pyramid 4108GS 300W 3-way units (they are 4 ohm, no 8 as the
originals, they are on offer here - only £23.95 pair - free UK
delivery!
http://tinyurl.com/9sxud
Now, they are 4 x 10 but the magnet is 1/2 inch bigger than the Craig
jobbies - but if you take the speaker mount brackets out of the car,
flatten the 3 locating tabs and rebend them wider they will fit fine -
you also need 2 new 4" jubilee clips as the original ones are too
small. Also (minor point) on the original Craigs, the -ve connection
on the spkr is a thin one, the +ve a normal size one, the new spkrs
both have standard size push connector terminals - I just snapped the
thin terminals off the old scrap spkrs and soldered em onto the new
spkr -ve terminal so the original wiring didn't need altering.
The new spkrs are gold mylar cones with twin units centre mounted -
300W claim is probably more 'Clive Sinclair' power rating rather than
RMS or Peak, but they are certainly well beefier than the originals.
I only have the original Craig radio at the moment as my DAB unit
hasn't landed yet, so have yet to give em a good blast of power :-)

Cheers
