Re: [doc] Frenchy update

Hi Chris

We can help with all these parts and have fuel filters on the shelf. The fuel pump is available from any Bosch dealer in the UK and the RRP is £100 + vat (and Bosch prices do not vary). We can match this price. Fire requires three ingredients: Fuel, Oxygen and Ignition or heat. A spark will not occur without air, so you only really have fuel, but I agree it takes some head-wrapping to see why it works! The trailing arm cowlings are stainless and are missing on a lot of cars due to the fastners being a pain in the wotsit to put back. The fuel pump boot and cover are available from all US vendors, though I woiuld recommend you get the cover from DMCH as it is made of the same stuff as the boot - others are not. We keep fuel filters on the shelf. I also have a load more Inconel trailing arm bolts if you want to change those while you're "down there".

I have just stripped down two Bosch fuel pumps and made one good one!

Quite a challenge un-bending the swaged alloy top!

They really are a weird idea, with the petrol passing right up through the
motor windings, past the brushes etc. I'm surprised they don't burst into
flames!

I am only using my repaired one for testing purposes and will fit a new one
later, I just looked upon it as a challenge.

I also realised why Frency looked a bit strange underneath......after lying
on my back cleaning it for a day or two! The two large alloy plates that
should cover up the trailing arms, are missing! I'd not spotted it before.

Can someone please give me the cross ref. Number for the fuel filter, mines
missing. Or if anyone has a spare...

I could also do with a new rubber donut thingy that hold the pump in the
tank.
