Easy to check if you need a earth strap just take a good quality jump lead 
from the neg battery terminal to anywhere on the engine if it turns over 
better then you are right its the earth strap,if not most likey a weak 
battery or a bad starter motor or the connections on both might just want a 
good clean. John....(but you need a good jump lead not a £10 on from 
halfords)!!!!
