The other "what if" question that really gets me going is," If the Delorean had continued it's production up until the present day, thus proving that stainless steel and gullwing doors work, how many other brands of car would have gull-wing doors or stainless steel?" Would gull-wing doors be accepted as part of standard motoring design, or would Delorean still be out on a limb now?
For those people that know of other modern gullwing cars,and site the Sera as another possible model, forget it. Last week I went to see a Sera that was for sale in Gatwick. It was being sold by the same guy that imports those very cute Nissan Figaros, which I love to bits. The Sera however, is absolute rubbish. It drives like a pig on cider, forgets that you've put your foot down until 3 seconds later( I joke not ), it's doorsdon't stay up properly, the interior is uninspiringly dull and the huge amount of glass used in the doors and roof makes it steamed up in cold/wet and boiling hot in the sun. They may only cost £5K for a good example, and be right hand drive, but if you can purchase a Delorean for £5K more in good condition, I'd advise waiting for the Delorean. The Sera, has butterflydoors, and is unusual, but it's never going to be the classic that the Delorean is, sorry to any Sera owners out there. On the other hand however, the Nissan Figaro is a fantastic little car, and would compliment a Delorean,in so much that it is just as unusual. Beautiful interior, amazing little engine bay, great soft top system, very good fun, I really can recommend one if you need a smaller, fun second car.

You gotta ask yourself these "What if" questions.. IF the Delorean stayed in
production it'd probably not have been used in BTTF... or maybe it's
successor would have been.
I very much doubt I'd own one if it weren't for that film.... and you gotta
admit that it's history - not the doors - is why a lot of us like them.
They're rare, unusual and most of all - unique. If they made 10 million..
well, it'd be a Ford Mondeo!
And who else can say "Drive Stainless!" eh?
Mine is stock too.. and staying that way.
