Re: [doc] Performance Engine & my new car AND some Opinion please

Martin,

Sounds like you could be at the start of something very interesting! Doubtless you will keep a record of what you do and with whom/where etc... ? While I focus my modifying "need" on the Calibra I often wonder what that lump in the DeLorean could really do with some "tweaking" - and as such will probably go with the free flow exhaust and, if Chris etc have contacts, will probably go with some porting/polishing etc too over time. 230hp certainly IS tempting though I'd be more than happy with a flat 200hp as the Calibra FLIES with that sort of power... (yes I know that a turbo'd 215Bhp is nothing like a natural aspirated 200Bhp!! - my 2.5 25V V6 Cavalier had 180Bhp and was FAST).

Okay.. Opinion time. Opinion is a wonderful thing and so I leave mine out and ask you guys this... I can only drive my car once a week, possibly more with weather allowing. I took mine to work on Wednesday and yesterday and both days she seemed very hesitant under load until I hit the magic 3000rpm and then the damn thing took off like a turbo.. not that that wasn't fun but it isn't right. This happened in every gear but in higher gears at lower speeds full throttle would cause the whole car to shake (dash etc)... could it be the moist weather be causing water to settle in the spark plug holes? It DOES get better with use. I'm looking to get her a full service soon in case. Oh and while I'm aware that the idle searches mine seems to be a little OTT.

And ONE more thing!! I have at some point seen a RPM to MPH table on the net. Since I have no speedo has any one seen this recently? Just so I know how far past the speed limit I am!

Good luck Martin BTW! ;o)

Thanks Chris - I will pass this along

BTW does the new system look anything like Ed Uding's one?
