Robin,

'Triumph' & 'No Rot' do not usually go in the same sentence, I have 
had a few triumphs, Spitfire, Herrald, Vittesse.

All had rust to some degree, but it's more important to know how the 
rust has been dealt with, a quick blow over may look smart but 
beleive me I would rather buy a triumph with the original paint 
flaking off so you can see the problem areas.

I was very lucky with my Mk4 spitfire, original paint was flaking 
away but when I got her on the ramp she was solid as a rock. Probably 
why I managed to buy her for £900 and sell her for £1400 a year later!

Some basic tips for owning a Triumph:

1) Take out shares in Hammerite
2) Take out shares in Isopon (Body filler Devision)
3) Learn to use a spray gun
4) Keep it as dry as you can!

Having said that all my Triumphs have been great fun, easy to work on 
and source bits and relativly cheap to maintain.

Just go in with eyes WiDe open :-)
