History
DeLorean Motor Company
created the Millennium standard for judging DeLorean automobiles in
the summer of 1999. Using memorandums, purchase orders, telexes, part
and service bulletins and other documents from the original DeLorean
Motor Company, the most comprehensive Judging Manual in the history
of DeLorean car shows was written. After the first event in St. Louis
in October of 1999, the manual was revised slightly and with the assistance
of the judges at that event, the judging sheets were completely re-written
to
maximize efficiency.
In 2005, in the
interest of creating independence from a single business,
management and operations of the DeLorean Millennium Concours was
transferred to several key managers of the DeLorean Mailing List, and
became sponsored by the three major DeLorean Vendors: DeLorean Motor
Company (Houston TX), DeLorean Motor Center (Garden Grove CA) and PJ
Grady DeLorean (West Sayville NY).
Typically, one national
level Concours event is held each year at a national DeLorean event.
Regional events are being discussed and may be held in the future. Prospective
competitors are encouraged to download and review the manual prior to
the event - judging sheets are also included to facilitate "pre-judging"
of cars.
