Well, not really. Although the price appeared lower for the product value
of the dollar was different. According to inflation calculator it turns out that
inflation from 1981 to 2014 equals 162.2%. This means that something costing $20
in 1981 would cost $52.44 today. So, you can say that things today cost about
the same as 32 years ago.
The German Stabilus struts that I will soon offer will cost just slightly
more. It’s interesting that 32 years later German Mark is gone replaced by Euro,
inflation has grown in the US and Europe and we still end up paying about the
same for products.
