Good questions. I have two D doors (passenger and drivers) that I am going to set up as Demo units. The drivers door is done.
I plan on making one available to DMCH or DCS (whomever wants it) when I finish the passenger door demo.
As for Lexan scratching, I too had this concern initially. However, I spoke with the people who make the
Lexan windshields for race cars and they said that the special coating that Lexan has makes it very scratch
resistant. That is why it is used in most race car windshields.
In the last 17 years we have not had a problem with scratching.
I also spoke to people who make polycarbonate windows. They claim that they prefer the uncoated polycarbonate
(Lexan is polycarbonate with a proprietary coating) because you can easily buff out scratches in polycarbonate.
Also, each of the windows is fairly easy to replace is case something does happen.
