Yes, the stick moves in the right place but does not engage. Do I need to remove the Transmission? Is that 2nd roller pin internal?

2nd gear is almost impossible to shift into on the down shift unless it's the exact RPM any suggestions?

All other gears work fine

I use a full synthetic 75-90 (Castrol or Valvoline something, but I'm too lazy to walk out to my garage right now).  The shifts are noticeably easier on a cold trans in the winter.

Of course, the usual warnings about hard shifting apply (fluid level correct, using a braided clutch line, and clutch master and slave working properly and bled completely).

Make sure your shift cable is correctly adjusted. If not correct it can make shifting hard.

The shifting on my manual trans has been getting a little difficult lately and I am thinking of replacing the gear lube.  I was wondering if anyone has tried any new types of gear lube with perhaps some additives that improved shifting performance which did not exist back in the early 80s?
