The point about the fire extinguisher is WELL taken. Another point related to your story is that those plastic fuel lines will not last forever. They are subject to heat, vibration, varying pressure, atmospheric pollutants and maybe some poor handling as part of engine maintenance. Just like we were encouraged to update the relays to prevent fires, it may be worth while updating fuel lines to prevent fires.
