Oh, The 161 battery light bulb has the right ballast for the regulator in
the alternator to run on. 
And yes on the pump failures being the DeLorean wiring harness. That is why
I have the fuel pump saver enhancement.

Couldn't he just carry a spare fuel pump?  Did he convert to EFI or a
carb?

I was going through fuel pumps on my car (my car is carbureted) but I later
found out this was due to electrical problems in my car.  I had the wrong
bulb in the battery indicator lamp which caused my power to sometimes
fluctuate.

Who would have ever thought such a small and cheap part could cause so many
problems.  I honestly believe vendors should include a #162 bulb with every
alternator they sell and insist that their customer's pull the binnacle to
check and replace the bulb if needed.
