Re: [DML] Wiper switch boke while I had steering column out of the car

Today the new part arrived. I was very pleased to see that the wiring was
identical. The only problem I had was that the harness on the new part was
a few inches shorter. This resulted in me having to relocate the mount
that holds the electronics it plugs into. It was no biggie but had this
been a real problem I could have simply made the harness a little bit
longer using either new wire or my old harness.

The part is now installed and I have functioning wipers again.

My cost including shipping was 31 GBP ($47 USD) for a new and genuine Lucas
part. That sure beats paying $131 plus shipping for a 30+ year old part
which included other stuff I didn't need.

Incidentally, my wipers now turn off without any gimmicks when I shut them
off. I don't have to hold the switch in the temporary position 3 times to
get it to turn off. I don't know if the switch shutting off when I tell it
to will last but for now it is working perfect.

For those who are interested here is the website I purchased this part from:
