Because it isn't clear that this is the source of the problem. It certainly *could* be but clicking that is RPM related could also be a bad cap, a problem with the coil wire, bad rotor, a bad ignition wire, etc. Besides. you just did. One clue would be if you get 1 click per rev or 6 clicks. Then you would know if the problem is before or after the distributor. Maybe the cap is on the wrong terminal or maybe it isn't even there! It's the only capacitor in the whole car that can stop ignition clicks from coming through the radio (all the other capacitors stop clicks from other devices -- not ignition). > > If Shannon were me instead of Steve, I would disconnect the coil capacitor and make sure the terminal on its lead wire is OK. While it was loose I would put an ohm meter on the it to make sure the capacitor charges up OK. I would replace the quick connect with a ring terminal before reattaching it to the coil. > > Bill Robertson > #5939 > ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
