This is a response to those telling me what I should have checked/replaced instead of installing Ed's outriggers. Ball joints (upper and lower) - My balls joints are new. Lower ball joints came from Henninger with the new control arms I ordered from him. The upper ball joints came from Hervey and were installed on the new upper control arms I ordered from DMCMW. Both of these control arms were installed about a year ago and also had new bushings. Steering rack ends - My tie rod ends were repalced about two years ago. I had the car aligned about 2 weeks ago and both the camber and toe are within spec. The caster is out of spec but this should only cause the car to drift, which I have not noticed. Tires balanced - Tires were balanced about a week ago. Btw, in America we spell tire with the letters T, I, R, E. When I travel I don't force my American ways upon people. I spell/pronounce things the local way, set my watch to 24 hr time (if thats the local way of keeping time), and do my best to convert my thinking to metric (kilometers, celcius, etc...). It is silly to send messages to an American group insisting something is called a tyre. Wheel balance - Couldnt find anyone in Baton Rouge to balance the wheel while it is on the car. Brake disc runout - Brake discs are about two years old. I continued to have the vibration after repacing the discs, calipers, and brake pads. Front wheel bearings - Replaced about two years ago with bearings from Hervey. I did however replace my brake discs after I replaced the bearings. I've heard some people say the bearings should be replaced whenever replacing brake discs, which I did not do. Bushings- All of my front bushings were replaced when I installed new control arms. The control arms have rubber bushings and I have poly bushings installed for the sway bar. Lug torque - I always torque my lugs to 70 lbs. Shocks - About 2.5 years ago I intalled Spax Shocks. Ed's Outriggers - Installed them last night and now the steering doesn't vibrate when driving on interstate in excess speeds of 60 mph. Is there something else I should have done before installing the outriggers? Perhaps if I would have thrown a match into the gas tank, I wouldn't have needed outriggers. -Steve Rice #16510 On Thu, May 3, 2012 at 12:47 PM, Martin Gutkowski <martin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > I would go with the suggestion to make sure your tyres are balanced.
