It's really not that hard a fix. My brother attached a heavier duty power ribbon to the door long ago (don't know where he obtained it), and it works great. (He's an Electrical Engineer) A bit stiffer than the original, but not prohibatively so. Yes, I have a bunch of cassetes & play them. Modern technology is NOT always better! However, after a dozen or so cycles of the cassette door, it flaked out again. > > I then used some thin wire and ran all new conductors to the display.. The result is the display works great now, but the door it too stiff to put a tape in. As I started to look online for modern flexible flat cables to replace the old one with, I started thinking.... Does anyone even use the cassette anymore?! > > So assuming lots of people have Craig radio's with broken displays, would anyone be interested in a repair that disabled the cassette? How much more would people be willing to pay to have the cassette still work? I am guessing most people by now have their iPods attached to FM transmitters. > > For me, I'd rather replace it all with a modern stereo unit... but I know there are some purists out there.. And hey, I have some time on my hands now and could use the extra cash. :) > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: > moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx > > For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com > > To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
