There is a switch on the lock system. The switch has to break contact when the key is inserted. The pin that lifts the breaker is plastic and wears out over time. I found that both the pin has shaved off a bit and that the screw connecting the lead to the buzzer got a bit loose. That could be your problem too. You'll have to take the lower steering column canopy off to reach the switch (below the steering column, facing the driver). Welmoed.
