Re: [DML] Angle Driveless Speedometer

The mechanical angle drive on the DeLorean continues to be an issue
for several owners of our cars. Yes, many people have had reliable
units that have lasted for many miles. I have about 180,000 miles on
my car and have only replaced the angle drive twice.

A few years ago someone in the Chicagoland area was playing with an
electronic replacement for the mechanical cable that runs from the
angle drive to the interior. This setup involved a pulse generator at
the front wheel which then signaled a motor mounted to the speedo to
turn at the correct rate.

Has anyone heard any more information about this?

Does the community think that this type of replacement would be of
value?

It would seem to me that this type of system could be removed in the
event the owner wished to restore the speedo to its original function
but also has the potential to support additional functionality of
modern trip computers.
