I got so disgusted with angle drives failing on me that I ran a cable directly from the wheel to the speedometer (to the Lambda counter actually -- it was an easier mating point). http://d.yimg.com/kq/groups/1154320/hr/378857712/name/AngleDrivelessSpeedo1.jpg http://d.yimg.com/kq/groups/1154320/hr/971330485/name/AngleDrivelessSpeedo2.jpg http://d.yimg.com/kq/groups/1154320/hr/1636546834/name/AngleDrivelessSpeedo3.jpg http://d.yimg.com/kq/groups/1154320/hr/552781634/name/AngleDrivelessSpeedo4.jpg Total cost: $5 (I got the fittings and DOT tubing free of charge -- retail is closer to $15). Because the angle drive gear ratio is not 1:1, but somewhere around 8:9, my speedometer reads about 10% low -- basically 5 MPH off. Odometer is off slightly as well. Before this repair, my speedometer and odometer were 100% off (broken -- AGAIN). One of these days when I'm rich and famous I will buy a case quantity of angle drives. Until then, this $5 ($15) modification does everything I need it to do.
