Hi Dave, The British government was actually doing as much as it could to prevent the company from going under. A consortium led by one of the DMCL directors was due to take over the factory but everything stopped dead when JZD was arrested. The rest, of course, is history. Whatever folks have to say about Margaret Thatcher, the receivers themselves were keen to keep the restructured DMC (1982) Ltd. running if it was at all economically viable. In an attempt to launch the DMC-12 into new European markets as soon as possible, the receivers even continued to fund homologation tests for the European spec and UK right-hand drive DeLoreans. The right-hand drive DeLorean was to make its debut at the British International Motor Show in Birmingham, England in late October 1982 and a deal was definitely in place (and approved by the British government) for a consortium to take over the running of the Dunmurry plant. As I mentioned earlier, that all stopped dead in the water as JZD's arrest was hitting the headlines.
