RE: [DML] Pulling Transmission

There are 2 "dust covers" one is at the bottom of the bell housing and is held on by 4-11mm bots. This cover is often not replaced as I am told it is not necessary. You would be able to see the 4 threaded holes in the lower portion of the bell housing. The second cover is held on by 2-11mm bolts and is behind the y-pipe on the driver side. It holds the flywheel pickup (not used on the Delorean). You should be able to feel a cable behind the bell housing on that side. These shield bolts are a bear to get out/in. They also bold into the bell housing.
I also had difficulty getting my tranny out because the input shaft had rusted somewhat to the clutch spline. Good luck.

I have the 4 big bolts, 3 at the starter and 2 on top out (trans mounts and linkages are also out with a jack under the tranny). I see mention of two covers on the bottom and driver side but can not find them. Has anyone seen any pictures describing the process? I am looking at the shop manual and see no mention of having to remove a plate prior to dropping the transmission. It does mention a "flywheel protection shield" in step 10 but that is after lowering the transmission. I can't figure out what I am missing. Has anyone seen any photos of the process I can look at or have any ideas what I may be missing?
