Re: [DML] Digest Number 4740

Please see Message #75537.

Just a couple of points, then I shall leave you fine people be before
you wear out your capital letters and exclamation point keys:

1) I long ago replaced that hard plastic elbow/adapter/S shaped
fitting, and the undersized drain hose, with a flexible rubber fitting
that can be quickly removed to verify that neither it nor the
evaporator box is clogged. Note that I can do this WITHOUT removing
the evaporator box, thank you very much. And yes, they both are clear
as I write this.

2) Plenty of air is drawn in through that hole in the blower motor
housing naturally -- enough to suck & hold a piece of paper in place.
You don't need a reverse tube to ventilate the thing. And again I
reiterate: why do you even need it in the first place? How many other
cars have you seen with such a tube?

3) Jim Prentice explained at DCS'04 how quickly these cars were thrown
together. He had exactly one hour to design the pedal cluster. At the
beginning of production, not only had no one designed a steering
wheel, but the entire interior from the seats back was undesigned!
Anyone who thinks a DeLorean represents years of careful design is
crazy (my opinion).

Obviously my ownership is antithetical to the arbiters of DeLorean
purity that haunt the DML. It is probably in all our best interest,
and the interest of your keyboard lamentation keys, if I quietly go
about my business without calling attention to "hardware store"
alternatives (actually McMaster Carr is my supplier of choice).

Ken Koncelik twisted my arm yet again last weekend to bring my car
inside at Gettysburg. Why should I pay my good money to have you fine
people criticize it? The rigidity and intolerance that increasingly
characterizes this community is truly bewildering.
