I can't believe I am refuting Claude yet again, but here I go lol. There was an early DeLorean (VIN 917 I believe) for sale in Apex, NC about 5 years ago with similar features. It had the early rough/textured pontoons, white engine cover, it seems it had the frame modifications y'all are talking about, and some other little anomalies. Perhaps ~IT~ was VIN 501! :-P It was also painted red, I'm SURE was one of those rare "factory" painted D's too! (note: I'm using heavy sarcasm). By the way, where is VIN 570 nowadays? I know Rob Grady bought it a number of years back.
