It sounds to me like you car is not holding "Rest Pressure". The next time it won't start do the plug swap between the control pressure regulator and the cold start valve. If it starts right up it is one of the following: fuel leak leaky fuel pump check valve leaky primary pressure regulator accumulator A definitive test is to hook up a fuel pressure gauge but even that can't tell you which part is bad. If the accumulator has never been changed I would start with that. The sensor in the water pump controls the cold start valve and since you say it starts good when cold I would guess that it is OK. I would recheck the vacuum hoses too. Have a friend go over it with you, you may be missing something and it is often hard to find your own mistakes, you keep passing over it. Messing up the vacuum hoses can make it harder to start. There is a temperature sensing device in the advance circuit.
