All this binnacle discussion got me thinking, now that I know how easy it is to take the thing apart... :-) After doing a few searches I see that SpeedHut offers $90 EL panels for our beloved beasts. I'd been to their site earlier but didn't see DeLorean listed under brands; instead it's under "Custom Gauges" (link on the right) and then "DMC Custom Gauges" (link on the left). They offer 85mph, 140mph, and 160mph versions. (No kph numbers.) I think that if one could paint the needles with UV-reactive paint and then install UV LEDs where the old gauge lights used to be, combined with the EL panel it would look pretty good. I see (in the archives, gentlemen) that someone tried UV paint and then used red bulbs instead. I'm curious now as to why. If you could fill me in, I'd appreciate it.
