The leather is called "Bridge of Weir" and it is not the prime choice or used at the plant of the Rolls Royce and Bentley Motorcars from the Darby (prewar) and the Crew (postwar) periods. All Rolls Royce and Bentley Motorcars were installed with "Connolly" leather back in that period of time. As far as my knowledge, the "Bridge of Weir" leather is a secondary of choice and was used by the independent restorers as for a substitute for "cutting" the cost in the difference of the "Connolly" leather. Connolly leather was the standard leather used and very expensive at that period of time and still is today. FWIW, the two leathers are different to touch as well as the aroma they release and one can always tell the car with Connolly leather is used. At the present the choice of leather for the new RRs are not Connolly but from "German Bavarian Bulls?" Mostly likely for the RRs are now under the BMW ownership. Anyway, it is possible that JZD would claim the same leather of Bridge of Weir is used in the DeLoreans. For the Bridge of Weir is not cheap either and is this the reason why the interior of DeLoreans not fully lined in all leather? But in "Pleasther" (Vinyl looking leather). This material used in the DeLorean has a nice embossed wrinkled pattern, which gives the interior a "dynamic" look and a plain leather surface may not. It will be a shame to emboss any pattern onto such fine expensive leather. BTW, embossed leather is to hide the hide's imperfection, but still costly......
