Hi Jack, I have made the conversion to LEDs for the selector plate. Contrary to an ordinary bulb, a LED has no "spread". This makes for a very hi- lighted "Drive" position (where the socket for the illumination is) and almost fainted for the other shift positions. Unless you are going to make the light follow the stick (for the mark) and use a second row of LEDs beneath the positions (for lighting the position characters) it is not an improvement IMO. I still am considering a better alternative, but have not yet come up with it.
