Group, There is still hope! Not all X-wives are heartless. I actually talked mine into not only loaning me her 2005 Jeep Liberty but adding a class V hitch to it to save Vin 00963 from the bone yard. I just got back last night from GA after picking up a Mar 1981 "D". It sunk in the P.O.'s backyard collecting dead leaves, acorns, rain etc. It would very easily fit into Tamir's "Sad Delorean" profile. It was far worse than the pictures I seen of it. The more I looked at it the more upset I got. After about 10 minutes I had decided to walk away from towing it back with me. I looked at the gas flap hood which was in good shape, the rims and the sunshade. Since I had already spent $400.00 on gas, tow hitch, rented trailer and driving 14 hours, getting these three items would help even things out. I asked the owners wife if he would sell only some parts from the car. She arranged a meeting at the owners work site and I offered to buy the parts. The owner said he would not part it out. It was all or nothing. As I got up to walk out the door he asked me what I thought it was worth. I threw out a figure that was half of what he was asking and he said I owned it. I had no idea of the fun ahead! 7 hours later the owners wife & I finally managed to drag the "D" onto a U-Haul car carrier. We had to drag a old pickup truck out of the "D"'s path, air up the back tires, remove the front tires, replace the front tires with ones I had brought along, drag the "D" about 100 feet to release it from the 8 inces of ground it was stuck in. What a ordeal. The good news is the frame in the front is solid and the back looks to be repairable. After 16 hours of driving at 50 miles an hour it is now in IL. I have to thank my X-wife for making the trip possible. So this is really a good X-wife experience if there is such a thing. Since the inside of the "D" is toast, I am looking to locate good, used, black interior parts. I need the following: 81 radio, door pannels, window motors, inside & out side door handles, dash, binnicle, plastic steering column cover, and more. If you have parts for a black interior I would like to get an e-mail from you. Thanks, Bill 11546 00963 "Plan for the worst, hope for the best, anything better than worst is to your advantage".
