I am NOT saying you cannot convert a -12 A/C system to -134. Reread my post. The compressor does not need to be changed but you do have to flush out the old oil. The hoses *should* be replaced and I am sure the ones you sell will work, the old ones will not last and they will leak. The evap coil and the condensor coil are not properly sized for the proper functioning of the system to handle the -134 hence the loss of some cooling capacity. IMHO as long as -12 is available or you can use a drop-in replacement it is not worth the conversion. If anyone is that worried about the environment then the *best* thing they can do is make sure they have a systen that doesn't leak. There are literally MILLIONS of old refrigerators and window A/C units in use with R-12. They don't tend to leak as much because of the hermetic compressors so they run longer before they need servicing. I don't see many people converting them to -134. I stand by my years of experience and field observations of what works and what doesn't.
