Hi Mr./Ms. Funk. You'll have to ask davidlasvegas whether it's for real, and why he doesn't want to change the alternator. I only did the math about whether he'd make the trip or not, and gave him a few ways to improve the odds. The general consensus is that changing the alternator is easy enough to make the risk of driving it unjustifiable. Seems sensible to me. Have we met before? Regrettably, I don't remember your name.
