The American alternator has a normal rotor testing at 5000 rpm's alternator rotation for maximum out put. That is about 2500 to 2800 engine RPM. That's why you're showing some charging at a higher RPM. If belts aren't slipping and everything looks good then the regulator and or diodes are bad. Electrical system isn't grounding out; lights and everything still work after parking car. When I push in the gas very fast and do a high RPM, the alt light will go off and volts needle back to normal. After about 2-3 minutes, volts needle drops and light comes on. Again I push in the gas very fast and get high RPM and light goes off. The process goes on forever. Checked the belt and it is on ok. Any ideas???
