The alternator isn't producing more than battery voltage. That's what makes the dash light go out. Unless your field wire isn't making good contact (the little brown/yellow wire), I'd suspect your alternator is dying. Pop it off and have a parts house test it. Heat is an alternator's #1 enemy. That's why front engine cars usually mount them so low (close to air flow). Our mounting location is hardly optimal. Not only is the alternator trapped in the back, but it is backwards (whatever air comes up from underneath passes over the hot engine THEN hits the alternator). Even the cooling fins are pointed in the wrong direction. Part of the price you pay for DeLorean ownership (worth it, IMHO).
