I hear you, I hit my head on my mirror shortly after I first purchased my D in '04. The bond was actually very weak and brittle after 22 years, and it popped right off. The mirror was fine though. I used DMCH's mounting pad as well, and a razor blade to carefully clean off the mess. I let my mechanic actually do the gluing part as he was working on my engine at the time. I've never been able to figure out how to repair the little spring inside though, to switch the day/night time driving mode. So I just kind of held the switch one way and jiggled it back into place til it snapped, then position it depending on the time of day. (very carefully!) Wouldn't want to snap my mirror off the glass again, let alone break the mirror itself. It hasn't broken since but I'm paranoid now. ;) -John #10715 --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, "Harold McElraft" <hmcelraft@...> wrote: > > You should get the mounting "pad" from DMCH for the OEM mirror.
