Did you see this on the DMCHelp site?  It looks like a good way to do an clean looking iPod dock with the Alpine head unit...I know that the cable they use is the Alpine "Full Speed" iPod cable (Alpine KCE-422i).  I'm planning on doing this system in my car as well, so I'm doing my rearch on it as well.  Other people told me that they had routed the connector cable into the glove box...
