Try this simple test - get under the car and remove the connectors from the 
reverse switch. Have someone turn the key on (ignition, but without starting 
the car). Short the two connectors together and have someone check if the 
reverse lights come on. If they do, then your switch is bad. I'd bet that is 
your problem.
